Devario aequipinnatus (McClelland, 1839)

Genus: Devario Heckel

Body compressed, abdomen rounded; mouth anterior, cleft of mouth shallow, not protractile. Lower jaw with a symphyseal knob. A distinct coloured cleithral spot present. Body with longitudinal coloured stripes. Fins without stripes.

Synony ms: Perilampus aequipinnatus McClelland, 1839; Danio browni Regan, 1907; D. strigillifer Myers, 1924; D. deyi Sen and Dey, 1985.

Diagnosis: Dorsal fin rays 2-3/9-12, anal 2-3/14-16, pectoral 1/11-12. Lateral line scale 33-37, predorsal scales 13-16. A preorbital spine present, which is backwardly directed from lachrymal bone.
