Body compressed, flattened ventrally to pelvic fin. Head small and conical with pores on its side; barbels 4 pairs and do not extend posteriorly beyond head. Dorsal fin base short, preceded by a spine.
Diagnosis: Dorsal fin rays 1/7, anal 4-5/9, pectoral 1/8. 5-6 vertical dark brown bars on light brown body. Posterior spine of pectoral fin serrated.
