Body moderately elongated and compressed from the sides, mouth small, terminal and slightly upturned, opercle with one sharp spine, spinous and soft dorsal fin rays continuous, soft rays longer than the spinous rays.
Diagnosis: Body elongated, two predorsal bones, small median blotch on caudal peduncle, 27 scales in lateral line series, 20 circumpeduncular scales, and no dark bands on the sides.
