Badis badis (Hamilton – Buchanan, 1822)

Genus: Badinae Bleeker

Body moderately elongated and compressed from the sides, mouth small, terminal and slightly upturned, opercle with one sharp spine, spinous and soft dorsal fin rays continuous, soft rays longer than the spinous rays.

Synony ms: Labrus badis Hamilton – Buchanan, 1822; B. buchanani Bleeker: Day, 1875; B. derio (Hamilton – Buchanan) Day, 1875; B. badis burmanicus Ahl, 1936; B. badis assamenis Ahl, 1936.

Diagnosis: Lateral line interrupted, often absent, dark blotch covering superficial part of cleithrum above pectoral fin base. Prominent dark blotches along dorsal fin base.

Punatsangchhu: Labrang, Bandar bir, Koylatar (Dagana)

Amochhu: Dorti khola (Chukha)

Altitude: 90 – 200 MASL (Single locality)
