Puntius sophore (Hamilton, 1822)
Genus: Puntius Hamilton
Body slightly compressed, moderately elongated to deep. Barbels one or two pairs or completely absent. Dorsal fin short, inserted nearly opposite to pelvic fins, last undivided dorsal fin ray not serrated posteriorly.

Diagnosis: Dorsal fin rays 3-4/8-9, anal 3/5, pectoral 1/14-16. Body relatively deep, its dorsal profile more convex than ventral. Mouth terminal, barbels absent. Dorsal fin inserted equidistant between tip of snout and base of caudal fin; its last unbranched rays osseous and smooth.
